"When Carolyn speaks those who hire her receive not only a charismatic speaker but also a publicity expert who helps bring attention to the organization."

Endorsements:

"(I) was so glad I got to sit in on your session…It was simply the most informative workshop I've ever been to. And your book is going to be, as Gordon Kirkland promised, tattered in short order. " ~ Jennifer Brown, attendee Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop at Dayton University

"Carolyn's presentation to our group was exactly what we needed. She connected with our attendees through the right message, the right
style, and the right anecdotes. On top of all that, she was a delight to work with behind the scenes in getting her booked for our event.
" ~
Andrew Chapman, president, Publishers & Writers of San Diego

"I really have to say a lot of my success has come from taking your workshop last year at the Muse Conference. I've been looking over your book the,  Frugal Book Promoter, and the handout notes to update my media kits and to help get the word out more on Stories for Children Magazine.  I don't think I would be doing as well as I am if it wasn't for you and few others like Jan the editor of KidsMag.com."~VS Genier, Stories for Children, Magazine and Newsletter Editor

"[Carolyn] provides affordable common-sense strategies for getting your work the attention it deserves, and her energy is contagious." ~ Donna McCroohan Rosenthal, program director of the East Sierra Branch, California Writers Club

Tip

Speaking and teaching are far and away the most productive ways to promote.  Standing before a crowd isn't everyone's cup of chamomile, but getting comfortable with being in front of people is an advantage for authors, even if they don't plan to carve out a speaking schedule. At the very least, poets and authors will find themselves reading their work at book signings.  So take a class at your community college, join Toastmasters, practice in front of friends.

Find at least one tip on writing, promotion or tech on every page of this website.

Book Proposal Help

Former book acquisitions editor Terry Whalin says, "editors and publishers don't read manuscripts. They read book proposals. In Book Proposals That Sell: 21 Secrets to Speed Your Success, you learn the inside scoop to achieve your dreams." I highly recommend it.

Promotion Services

You'll find direction in the Frugal Book Promoter for building your own media kit; if you choose not to build your own, the information there will make you a better partner for a publicist you might hire to help you. I recommend PressKit 24/7, the brainchild of publicists with over forty years' experience. We know the speed at which you need to work, and we know what it takes to get the media's attention. It was critical for us to be able to create professional online press kits for our own clients. So we understand what you need for yours.
